Bible Based Curriculum ideas for Elementary Aged Children

Homeschooling elementary-aged children is rewarding, yet can have its challenges as we seek to keep these active children busy doing things of value and not just busy work.

Common things during the elementary years that are important to focus on in your homeschool have a lot to do with training. It is this foundational training that will bloom during the high school years and ultimately bless your home.

No curriculum is going to fully prepare you on how to train your children in work ethic or character. Besides the Bible, Doorposts is a curriculum that focuses on homeschooling from a Biblical and practical standpoint.

Doorposts provides many different tools that are helpful in that process - from charts to a full-fledged “curriculum” book called Instruction in Righteousness. They also have two other books called Polished Cornerstones for girls and Plants Grown Up for boys. Each of these has hands-on activities to do with your children to instill in them a knowledge and understanding of what godly character really is.

There is also Institute in Basic Life Principles’ Character Sketch books that children of all ages love, as they deal with animals. This, too, is more of a Bible curriculum.  Both of these would be geared more towards the Christian homeschooling family.
