Field Trips

Another great activity to do during this age of your homeschooling is frequent field trips.

A field trip can be as simple as a quick run to the grocery store, or as elaborate as a whole day out with a homeschool co-op group!  Make it work with your family and your schedule.  Remember, we're trying to keep your homeschooling RELAXED!

The website The Field Trip Factory is a great resource for finding local stores and locations that offer field trips as well as get the creative juices flowing.  Although the site is geared toward public school educators, clicking around the site will give you some great ideas for your own family field trips or ones that you can organize with other homeschoolers in your area.

For instance, your local Petco will coordinate one called Fins Furs and Feathers.  Or the Meijer has one focused on health.

You don't need a structured event like this to make a field trip, however.  You can use a weekly grocery store trip as a learning adventure anytime!  Compare pricing of store brands to name brands by using the shelf information cards.  See if the larger sized bottle is really more cost effective than the smaller size, etc.  Ask the ladies in the bakery if you can watch them decorate a cake, etc.  It's really fun!
